For many The Gospel of Grace is upsetting to say the least because they have always thought that they have goodness – Grace knocks the goodness right out of you through the law that brings condemnation, guilt and shame upon Everyone.
But Grace picks you back up If and When you see the true value of the cross. Sadly most stay as “cardboard cross” carrying, self-righteous members of a social club because that is what makes them feel good. So let me be blunt:
Jesus was killed because He was saying that the law was “fulfilled” through Him.
The self-righteous will never admit they are naked and without Any little bit of good. The ones who were the most religious missed Jesus then and they miss Jesus now because they don’t see the need that they have due to the idea they have about goodness being a moral issue instead of a Cross issue.
In this short devotional there are many linked words if you want to dig deeper into this idea. The main study that started me on my naked journey is called “Let The Journey Begin” because that is what started for me when I was first introduced to Grace.
“So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.” … Revelations 3:16-18
