There is No fear in Perfect Love But on my journey fear has been a great opportunity for growth If I don’t get stuck in it. Let’s look at the beauty of fear in the spiritual realm and how to use it for a Great growth experience and for healing ourselves and others.
Fear either causes retreat or growth but the key to the growth is seeing “BIG GOD” as Bigger than we did before the fear came.
“But he said to them, “It is I; don’t be afraid.” Then they were willing to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the shore where they were heading.” – John 6:20-21
I don’t use words like “never” very often but I can use it here.
I have never had a fear that didn’t run from “BIG GOD!”
Time and again we see fear like all broken pieces of ourselves used to grow Love If we are open to the Bigness of God. Everyone from Abraham to Jesus to Paul experienced fear and all of them are perfect role models for how to use it to make life more beautiful by allowing it to bring us to a greater understanding of the Awesomness of God!
Three key points here:
1)Be willing to bring Him into your fear. We do this by prayer and meditation repeatedly – more on meditations later and in the next post.
2)Fear is not a “sin” it is an opportunity to grow Trust in the growing “BIGNESS of GOD” – the greater the fear the greater the Trust grows.
3)Once He gets into our fear, we “immediately” get to where we are going because where we are going is Greater Rest (Faith) in Love and “God Is Love!”
Here are a couple of meditations I have used to calm the seas of the fear I was blessed to have. After I close my eyes and take a couple of deep cleansing breathes as I return to regular breathing I:
Breathe in and say:
“God is with me”
Breathe out and say:
“Here and Now”
Breathe in and say:
“God will supply”
Breathe out and say:
“All my needs”
A short contemplative prayer:
“God I am afraid, I give you my fear, I know nothing can seperate me from Your Love, I thank you for allowing me to grow in Your Bigness.”
