The reason we miss Perfect Love is that we are imperfect beings made Perfect in the sight of God by The One Who Loved us and Loves us still in a way we can’t understand. As a result we try to cram Perfect Love into our Extremely narrow constructs of performance based human love and scratch our heads when something is missing. This is usually about the time when most find a denominational or religious framework that makes them comfortable and forget about Perfect Love altogether.
“These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’” – Matthew 10:5-7
When Jesus sent out “the twelve” He didn’t send them to the filthy Gentiles such as me or the outcast Samaritans who no self respecting Jew would affiliate with. He sent them to the very ones that kept the “law of Moses”, the top 10 commandments and then some. Why is that?
The easiest path to Hell is the one covered in our own goodness that we get from following a formula from a group instead of Perfect Love from The Father. Until we see the cross of Christ as All we need we will Always need. There will always be missing pieces of Love because we aren’t Resting in His Perfect Love already Freely provided.
Missing pieces of His Love often look like this:
1)”I would be loved more if I were…..” – fill in the blank with any of 1000 different words but this is basically worship of the “god of MORE” who will always scream, “you are never enough.”
2)”I would be loved more if I did…….” – again fill in the blank with any of 1000 laws, rules, dogmas or ideas that a religious group or person would place on you. This again goes back to the “god of MORE” and you will Never “do” enough to please him.
3)”That person (or group) does (or did) something really bad” – one of the most successful campaigns of the “god of MORE” is to get The God of Loves people focused on being morality police instead of Unconditional Lovers.
In the next devotional I hope to share some solutions to the missing pieces of Love. Hope you will check it out.
