We can grow ego or we can grow appreciation but we cannot grow both. What we grow depends on knowing “the why” of the law, the cross, LOVE and Jesus. As we saw in “LOVE vs. who?” Many will miss “the why” and as a result they will miss Life itself!
“But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’ “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” – Luke 18:13-14
The law was created so that we would see our need for LOVE that is beyond Any humanly possible! If we get this then and only then do we build a deep sense of appreciation and gratitude for Jesus, the cross, His Love and even the law because it brought me to the point of seeing my need.
If we miss the true purpose of the law and try to use it in conjunction with Grace our life becomes a cycle of ego driven “good times and feelings” countered with guilt, condemnation and depression.
Appreciation is built on The Solid Rock foundation of Faith, Believing that Everything needed for our Righteousness and Justification was “Finshed” on the cross and by Trusting that I am Complete, no longer under the law, wHOLeY and at Peace with God!
