Why is God’s Love not good enough?
Who had the hardest time accepting Grace?
“‘Go to this people and say, “You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.” For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.’” – Acts 28:26-27
The passage above is a quote from Isaiah that Paul used to describe the most law abiding and most self-righteous by legal standards group of that day. Right after this statement the Bible says:
Vs. 28 “Therefore I want you to know that God’s salvation has been sent to the Gentiles, and they will listen!”
I sure am glad the Jews rejected the healing that comes from the Grace of God through Jesus! That is why according to this passage His salvation came to us gentiles.
But here is the point of this passage: When people believe that the law brings them closer to God – they grow calloused and they can’t hear or see the truth of God’s Amazing Grace!
The healing of Christ is not just for those with withered hands or lame legs or some other physical or mental malformation. His healing is primarily and most importantly spiritual- And this ONLY happens by Grace!
How?
The more we grasp the perfection of the cross. The greater we understand our total inability to in any way shape or form add squat to our own holiness. The more focused we are on thanking Him and realizing His Amazing gift of re-creating us as His new and perfect creations-
The more healed we become!
I know this flies in the face of everything most churches and religions teach. It did then and it does now and it probably always will. But this is why accepting the message of the Good News of Christ is a huge step of faith!
Please find a time and a place where you probably won’t be disturbed, take a few deep breathes and gently close your eyes. With each exhale just relax without making a big deal on effort about it. You can even raise your shoulders to your ears and just let them drop if that helps you relax. Once you feel a bit more relaxed and go back to relaxed breathing and:
Breathe in and say:
“Lord open my eyes”
Breathe out and say:
“To Your Grace”
Practice this for a while just a few minutes a day and listen- He really wants a Grace-Full relationship with you and He will show you the way.
