Why Christmas? Part 5 – The wrapping paper!
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” – Isaiah 9:6
The most Powerful Being, The Force that shook the earth into being and created All things comes in the form of a child! Is there a lesson there?
God Never says Oops! He came at the exact second and in the exact way and with the same exactness that He (God) knows the numbers of the hairs on your head!
The wrapping paper God used shows us the simplicity and humbleness of His plan and thus how He Loves His children – you and me – to be dependent on Him so that through His power and His Love you may rule!
The government being on His shoulder explains that each and every moment on earth, in your life and that surrounds you was preordained, preplanned and prepared by The God Who Loves you more than you could ever hope to comprehend or begin to understand! It doesn’t matter what government is in power or what your social position is – HE LOVES YOU AND HE IS IN CHARGE OF EVERYTHING!
His Love can begin to be defined by His names: “Wonderful Counselor” – the first name used is the one needed to soothe the soul injured by sin, shame and despair! As we talked about in earlier studies in the series our condition before Christ is, was and always will be misery as we are looking for and following the wrong outcome!
The outcome of following anything except The Gift, The “Mighty God”, The “Everlasting Father”, The “Prince of Peace” – will always be a disaster waiting to happen because only by resting in what Is can Peace like this be achieved!
When God gave us another name for Him, “I AM” we see the same completeness in His wrapping paper! He Is – therefore I can rest in what Is!
The Wrapping Paper that surrounds The Greatest Gift Ever brought forth is a glimpse into the very nature of God and what is inside – His Goodness cannot now or ever be over stated for if it could be we diminish His God-hood – and for me and my house we will NOT go down that road!
It isn’t about us and our goodness and our effort – it’s about The Gift! Keep reading these simple devotions as we un-wrap The Gift!
