Who was it that was most against your freedom?
Who was against Grace?
Are they still around today?
“They replied, “We have not received any letters from Judea concerning you, and none of our people who have come from there has reported or said anything bad about you. But we want to hear what your views are, for we know that people everywhere are talking against this sect.” – Acts 28:21-22
The people most against your freedom are the ones most tied up in legalism.
The ones who are most against Grace are the ones that think God only operates a certain way and that is my way and everyone else is on the highway to Hell.
The people in this passage came and talked with Paul and he shared Grace with them- some accepted what he was saying, most didn’t but the point is that these were very religious people. These people gave a whole new meaning to the phrase “obey the law.”
The good news is they seem to have a glimmer of open-mindedness here and many listened to Paul talk about the law of Moses and the prophets and Jesus and how all these pieces fit together.
Does the same thing happen today? LOL! Sadly yes very much so- why?
Simply because a pew is more comfortable than a thought that I might be wrong!
