So being used of God means an easy life right?
God’s blessings are all about prosperity right?
“To this very hour we go hungry and thirsty, we are in rags, we are brutally treated, we are homeless. We work hard with our own hands. When we are cursed, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it; when we are slandered, we answer kindly. We have become the scum of the earth, the garbage of the world—right up to this moment.” – 1 Corinthians 4:11-13
This passage was basically Paul’s warning or advice that his gig wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. Yes he traveled and got to minister and share with many people but he also became a “fool for Christ.”
What does that mean?
Be a fool for Love and make Loving others what your life is about- no matter what the cost financially or otherwise. By earthly standards Christ was a fool. He came from Heaven, Loved even His enemies and died for His enemies- What kind of Love does that?
Love from Above!!- The same kind that would go hungry and thirsty for others to see His light. The same kind that would bless when cursed. The same kind that puts Loving others even above their own welfare.
This is Christ-likeness- not that we do but that we Be – Love! Not that we have a checklist but that we see the struggle as a blessing because we know His Love is flowing through our struggle and that means that others may live and find the kingdom of God that is within them but they haven’t seen it yet.
Here is a meditation for you. Find a time and a place where you probably won’t be disturbed. Begin to take several deep breaths and with every exhalation see God taking your stress a bit more. As you release close your eyes and begin to get a picture of God leading you and holding your hand. Once you get that picture turn to Him and:
Breathe in and say:
“Abba”
Breathe out and say:
“Love through me”
Practice like this until you sense that Loving others really is ALL that matters.
