The never ending theme of the Bible is one that points and leads toward one irrefutable Fact – Love Was, Is and Always will be Gods desire for us to share with each other. Here is a short devotional which ask the age old question:
“What should we do then?”
What is good fruit in God’s garden?
“The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.” “What should we do then?” the crowd asked. John answered, “Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.” – Luke 3: 9-11
I can think of no worse fate than to find myself in Heaven with a bunch of people who think that they have in any way shape of form gotten there because they have checked a list of moral rights and wrongs or observed the law better than some other being and as a result they made it in!
Take a look at what John the Baptist already knew had changed- It’s ALL ABOUT LOVING OTHERS!!
Here were sincere people who had followed what many thought was a crazy man who ate locust and dressed in camel hair to the middle of a forsaken desert and they were told that religiosity was about to be cut down and works of the law didn’t matter!
“What should we do then?” In other words – how do we keep from being cut down and thrown into the fire? And the answer:
LOVE!!
The answer was a resounding- give to those in need and Love each and every Being like they were created by God- cause guess what – they were!
Once again the system that Christ came to set up called Grace = Love Wins! Love trumps law every time! This is how I know I won’t be disappointed by Heaven- not because of anything I have done but because of His word to you and me and His word is – LOVE!!
Here is a short contemplative prayer for today, this week and the rest of your life. Write it down in several places where you will see it many times a day and find a way to pause for short breaks throughout your day as you quiet the rush in your mind and pray this in a meditation:
“Lord let my focus always be on LOVE!”
Practice this for the rest of your time here on earth and let His Love prevail!!
Thank you for this. I had never seen that in these verses before. In fact, I just turned to them for myself, and guess what! I was really encouraged by them. In fact, the couple verses following mention the tax collectors and soldiers asking him what they were to do, and all in all it adds up to love. I really appreciate your continued posting to help others find God’s love and grace.
Praise God sister!
Thank you for your encouragement and Thank you for sharing!
I pray lights will go on all over the world with people seeing The Love and Grace of God as never before – it is the Only hope for the world!
