Jesus came to the single most legalistic people in the world – the ultimate law keepers and teachers. So that being the case what was it that got Him hunted down, hated and eventually killed by the ones who taught the law? I mean most churches today teach that you have to follow laws – so how was Jesus different?
What made it special?
What did Jesus want us to do with it?
“He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” – Mark 16:15
The gospel is simply this: God Loved us so much that He sent His only son to radically change our relationship with Him by dying in our place so we could be made Holy and perfected by believing in Him. In this way we could have a relationship with Him not based on punishment but based on Love.
Why do so many people TRY to make a relationship with Him based on works?
Could it be that a Love like this doesn’t make sense in human terms?
This is what makes the gospel special and this is what makes Grace so Amazing. He died for us for the very reason that He wants us to have a relationship with Him.
We cannot now nor could we ever have a relationship with Him based on our doing. It is totally based on Him and His free gift and therein lays the completeness of the gospel.
He didn’t say go preach dogma, politics, law or anything else. He said preach the fact that Love has come to town in a way never before seen, to perform a work never before possible, on beings totally undeserving so that those beings (us) could have a fullness and completeness like never before.
I am not here to convert anyone, change anyone or protect any doctrinal fluff that makes you or anyone else feel good. I am still breathing to share one very specific idea that changes lives and history-
“GOD IS LOVE!!”
Don’t worry- Be Grace-Full!!
I love this post! You are sharing the message that is the cornerstone of my entire blog. I agree with your observations pretty much statement by statement. Well said.
Thanks!
Thank you brother! I appreciate you kind words.
Every religion tells us “come to me and do what I tell you” but Christ in a relationship with us says, “come to me if you are weary and get rest and when you rest in me Love will flow through you” – the difference between The God and other mini-gods is rather simple. The God wants us well – mini-gods want us in pain!
