Free from what?
Jesus came to “set the captive Free!” Free from what? What captive? “You shall know The Truth and The Truth shall set you Free!” Who Is The Truth?
The Jews were and are Gods chosen people. They had been given “the law of Moses” and like every other human did a miserable job of keeping it. They, like everyone else, were and are prisoners of their own failure and made repeated sacrifices to seek forgiveness – THEN CAME JESUS! He Is The Truth and He Is The One Perfect Sacrifice, Once and for All for All times!
The reason so many Christians feel like a failure and for them worship of, love for and gratitude toward God is an emotional roller coaster at best is because they don’t fully live in the awareness that they Are Free from the law!
