Was Jesus a fool?
Was the action taken by Jesus foolish?
Was the Love He showed absolute lunacy?
“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.” – 1 Corinthians 1:18-19
Could it be that the reason many dont understand what Jesus did is that He was crazy?
Is it always the person labeled crazy that is crazy?
Copernicus and Galileo were called crazy by the church and Jesus was considered a fool by the “teachers of the law” and religious leaders of His day. The wise seem to be confounded by the simplest truths. Why is that?
Human beings and the human ego has a need to be on top and to grow. This is why the greatest example of Love came from a man that probably wasnt that impressive except for His Love. God uses opposites to confound the “wise” or the “wisdom” that comes from the ego because we need to give up the idea of our wisdom to truly see Him perhaps.
Pick one:
Noahs Ark- a big boat being built on dry land.
Abraham being asked to sacrifice his son- then being told to not do it at the last minute.
Saul the great Christian hunter becoming a leader of the early church.
Son of God coming from Heaven to die for people who were His enemies.
They all have one thing in common they are all foolish by human standards of rational conduct. One other point that I find of interest here is that Love is often times NOT “proven” by human standards. If something has to be proven to you I fear you will have tremendous difficulty with Christ and Love in general. I cant explain how meditation works but I know it does and I cant explain how Christ healed me but He did. I have nothing to explain or defend just making a statement and hopefully planting a seed of Love.
