Do you still have an eye?
“But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.” – Matthew 5:28-29
This passage and the amazing way church people try to skip around it is always a cause for considerable humor for me. Why? Because I am a man, was a teenager and don’t live in a cave – but even if I did it wouldn’t matter!
Every single time I speak of, write about or mention Grace there is invariably the a “fulfiller” there – a “fulfiller” is the person who says, “Well Jesus didn’t come to change the law only fulfill it!” To which I ask as I did as a young upstart punk preachers kid, “Ok what does fulfill mean?”
Fulfill means to meet ALL the requirements for that which is needed! In other words the law has been met at the point that it needed to be and the requirements of it are no longer open but filled.
When a person comes to Jesus and accepts what He did on the cross – ALL the needs for the law are fulfilled for that person as that person now and forever more has Jesus living inside them!
The reason for the law and the increase of the law that Jesus made while here on earth with sight sins – like above and thought sins as in a previous passage – is that the law was designed to show us our wickedness!
Once in Christ we are no longer wicked as we wear the robes of righteousness of the new creation that He made us!
The option to this belief is the “Uncomfort Zone”!
In the Uncomfort Zone we are left with either obeying what Jesus said and or what the OT law said OR making a goofy excuse and justification for why we are not following it.
What’s it going to be for you a blind man’s cane due to an eye gouging ceremony or Grace?
Oh I get it now. Jesus was talking to the unconverted who were still under the law. Wow! Thank you Bob and I thank God for your anointing. I can really say, “praise the Lord”. Rod
AMEN! Brother!
Christ is the end of the law for All who believe! The law was my tutor until Christ! The law is good for those under the law!
This is what the 7 questions are designed to share – the purpose of the law is to get us to Him, to show us our need for Him but after that – “you are no longer under the law, you are under Grace” “Love your neighbor as yourself and thus fulfill All the law and the prophets”
Jesus made things easy and burdens light – that’s why He had to be killed!
I just shared my revelation with my saved son but he said he didn’t think the stuff in the bible applied to him anymore anyway. He doesn’t seem to need the understanding I do before I can be set free. Rod
Rod,
For most seeing Grace is a long road and the seeds have a whole lot of manure from religious people to push through – that’s just been my experience. You are in my thoughts, prayers and meditations brother!
Yes my son didn’t read bible commentaries and attend churches the way I did. Rod
It is ironic Bob: the churches save us and then they fail us. Rod
Rod,
That is an interesting point! I think that a huge majority of churches might start off with the right idea but they start getting into building a kingdom now and getting bigger – they start to worship the god of more instead of follow the path of less.
Bob
The church I entered held outreaches, and one particular person spoke to me and expressed his feelings about God. The problem was with the collective beliefs of the church rather than with the individuals. The church didn’t like you to think for yourself. Rod
Rod,
That was my experience as well the churches I went to had a very limited idea on Who God is and I had to think just like them or find another place.
