If you know how your enemy fights – you can win, if you don’t – defeat is assured! In short only an idiot brings a butter knife to a gun fight! Jesus Never uses a butter knife!
It’s not the law the devil wants you to break – it’s your Faith in God to Be All you need!
“The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.” Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’” – Luke 4:3-4
The fact that Jesus broke laws doesn’t bother me a bit – why? Because the law never made anyone righteous! What concerns me and shows in the self-condemnation and group condemnation of most churches is that they still believe the law has value even after Jesus is living in them!
Look at how Jesus was tempted. Was He tempted to break a law or was He tempted to rely on His own ability and power? Isn’t reliance on self the whole point of the law?
We are saved “By Grace through Faith” not by works so that no one could ever boast!
The temptation of Christ here and in other studies I hope to write will show you that what the devil wanted from Him is the same as what the devil wants from you – to rely on self or to gain comfort in hard work, self-effort and your own power – He was tempted to break Trust in God being in complete control of this moment of His Life and Resting in His plan – are you tempted to rest in your own goodness and work? – THIS IS THE OPPOSITE OF FAITH!!
Faith is Trust! Faith IS Resting on His Power, His Love, His Grace and His Work that He Alone did on the cross! When you see this Gratitude begins to grow like a weed for a Very good reason – you did Nothing – He did EVERYTHING! I deserve Nothing – He Provided EVERYTHING!
And if that isn’t enough – ITS ALL FREE!
To live a Righteous life Pleasing to God is to Rest in Christ Alone! Here is a simple meditation prayer. I hope you can find a quiet time and place to practice this for 10-20 minutes a day!
Breathe in and say:
“You Alone God”
Breathe out and say:
“Make me Holy”
Breathe in and say:
“I will Trust”
Breathe out and say:
“In You Alone God”
Practice this for the next week or so and see that Christ Alone IS ALL you need!
