Jesus was either the Ultimate Magician to the people of old or He was a complete Game Changer – today we still wrestle with this eternal question! Its convenient to have something “written in stone” as opposed to on your heart – the trouble is Faith is never about the convenient path, only the “correct” path!
“Jesus said to them, “I did one miracle, and you are all amazed. Yet, because Moses gave you circumcision (though actually it did not come from Moses, but from the patriarchs), you circumcise a boy on the Sabbath. Now if a boy can be circumcised on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses may not be broken, why are you angry with me for healing a man’s whole body on the Sabbath? Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.” – John 7 21:24
Jesus did NOT and was NOT legally perfect! It is crucial that you understand this because He was perfect but NOT by attempting to keep the law as the law Never made Anyone “perfect” No not even one!
Hebrews among other places tells us Very clearly what made Jesus perfect:
“Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him and was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek.” Hebrews 5:8-10
Jesus was “made perfect” by Faith and we are invited to do the same by “obey(-ing) Him” – Yes to obey Jesus IS different than to obey the law! To obey Jesus “Love others as I have Loved you and in so doing fulfill ALL the law and the scripture!”
Here is another passage from Hebrews and I encourage you to read the entire chapter before this as that chapter is the Hall of Fame for Faith but No one in this Hall of Fame had been so Faith-Full as to “die for the sins of many” –
“fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2
Jesus perfected Faith and Now because of His Great Love for you He wants nothing more than to come in and dine with you, to intimately Love you as a son and a daughter and a “friend of God!”
Care to let Him do just that? Here is a Great place to start – take your time with the Bible study on this link and remember “The Truth Will set You Free Indeed!”
