Here in a nutshell is the “How To” guide for Grace-Full spiritual growth! For a big part of my early life “spiritual growth” was about trying to fit into “the system” of the religious organization that I belonged to by following the law better, doing more to support that building and following the law closer – THIS IS NOT TRUE SPIRITUAL GROWTH!! It is religious constipation and not only is it worthless its also Very dangerous!
Religious constipation vs. Spiritual Growth (Part 2)
“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” – Ephesians 4:30-32
So what is true spiritual growth?
In the last Bible study we learned about what religious constipation looks like and what it is – here is how to avoid it.
To grow spiritually is a lifelong journey but here are some steps you can take and some ways to recognize spiritual growth:
1) Recognize you cant – Only Jesus can make create the New Creation in you and He did that the very nanosecond you accepted Him!
2) Rest in the idea that He perfected you and wants you just the way you are – and the way He will grow you!
3) Forgive like there was no yesterday, Love like there is no tomorrow – this is the sign of true spiritual adults – Why do I say that? Because with God your yesterdays have been forgotten and there is no tomorrow to worry about only His Love that transforms you and welcomes you Home!
I am not kind and I absolutely suck at compassion – the only thing good about me flows from Him. Recognize this fact and life gets phenomenally easier to deal with and in fact down right relaxing!
Spiritual Growth is NOT about who follows the most laws and rules the best! See this for what it is – a lie of satan designed to get you to lose focus on the only thing that matters – LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER!!
