Opening the least likely Gift – 3

The greatest moments of spiritual growth happen in my moments of struggle when I ask myself “what is causing this struggle”? And “what does that tell me about The Divine that I believe in”?

When I was religious I looked at struggle as sin, punishment, weakness but never as opportunity – Grace changed that.

As you may recall from “Opening the least likely Gift – 2” there is a spiritual “fight or flight” that occurs and while some try to go with “flight” the mirror of the soul always brings us back to the reality of the pain which is given so we will grow.

So what about the “fighter”? What about the person who sees struggle as opportunity and wants to process pain spiritually instead of hide from it?

Let’s examine how a “flightless flier” vs. a “fighter” deals with struggle:

  1. The flightless will ask “why me god” but the fighter ask “what’s the lesson this moment has for me?”

  2. The flightless will look for an escape but the fighter will look for an education of the soul.

  3. The flightless will seek to hide the struggle but the fighter will to be open and real about the challenges.

  4. The flightless will attach blame but the fighter will seek healing.

  5. The flightless will seek noise and to stay busy but the fighter will seek to be still and rest in knowing that Perfect Love is in control.

“Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance” … Romans 5:2-3
