“Humility is not thinking less about yourself, it’s thinking about yourself less.” Not sure who said this but it’s a Great quote about the reality of a humble heart.
One reason why All righteousness is by Faith, or in other words, Resting in what Christ did is that God knows us all too well. The law forces us to focus on ourselves, our actions, our doings and our efforts – which takes our eyes off of those who desperatly Need Unconditional Love!

“The greatest among you will be your servant. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” – Matthew 23:11-12
It’s funny how some people study something their whole life in great detail and still don’t understand it. History is full of smart people who made stupid mistakes because they thought they understood something.
As long as we believe that the law has something to do with righteousness we will exalt ourselves on a bad day and sink into depression on a good day – why?
Because the law was designed to show us our Need For Christ and that’s why “Christ is the end of the law for all who believe!” So on a bad day you manage to think you successfully kept the law which causes you to exalt yourself. On a good day you fail at keeping the law and so you become depressed which is what needs to happen for you to understand that All Righteousness is already Freely Given to All who believe!
