After 20 plus years of foreign countries and foreign languages if I know anything it’s this – if you can’t read the map that you desperately need to read, you have a very large challenge. With that being said having the only person we could find who could speak to us in English answer the question, “Excuse me but where exactly are we?” with two words, “you here” wasn’t a huge help.
“This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.” The words “it was credited to him” were written not for him alone, but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness—for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.” – Romans 4:22-25
The vast majority of Christians have the wrong map and as a result they are continually frustrated by the religion they follow for a simple reason – they are following a religion that was meant to be a relationship – IT’S A TOTALLY DIFFERENT MAP IN A TOTALLY DIFFERENT LANGUAGE!
In the passage above Abraham was credited with righteousness – but the real question isn’t that Abraham was righteous – its Why was he righteous? How was he righteous?
He was righteous because he believed and rested in the promise that God had made him even though it seemed impossible.
What is further and of the utmost importance here is for us to see that this was written for us today as well – why?
Because our righteousness is NOT in our works NOR is our justification!
Our righteousness and our justification IS IN our REST in Him and what He did and what He accomplished!
While most Christians tell me they believe this within a few sentences they will tell me of their struggles and I will know they are Not about Grace but they are still under law! I have learned that after visiting with, sharing with and caring for many legalists – just to present and let the seeds fall where they may!
