The purpose of the law is to make us poor in our own spirit so that we can and will invite The Spirit of Perfect Love in.
The first origin of a Lover is therefore “poor in spirit” …
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.“ … Matthew 5:3
Pick a Biblical Hero and you will see at least one time in their life where they were broken, hurting, beaten and abused to the point that their spirit was broken. Paul writes about how he is thankful for the law because the purpose was to “bring us to Christ.” The law does this by heaping on condemnation, shame and guilt which IF someone truly gets Grace it All goes away.
