Learn what?
Why didn’t Jesus talk more about the law?
“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” – Matthew 11:29-30
Is there anything easy or light about the law?
Even the Bible says the law is a hard “task master” and it can never be fully satisfied. Even Jesus broke the Sabbath on at least two occasions in order to Love.
So what is it to sit at the feet of Jesus and learn?
A baby Christian is the one under the most law – so what does it look like to follow Christ?
This is an easy one for me to forget especially when I go back to my upbringing as a Southern Baptist preachers kid and throw in my Irish background-LOL! In fact it is so easy for me to slip into “I am right and you are wrong” mode that God brought it to my attention again just this morning in meditation.
We all come from different backgrounds and different ideologies but Christ is teaching us an easy yoke and a light burden through Grace and here it is– “Love!”
Does that mean I always do it? Does that mean I always look and act Loving according to your view of Loving?
LOL- No but then we are all learning – I hope. But while learning from Jesus can often take some strange roads – one thing is sure He is in a constant process of healing us toward Love, Gentleness and Humbleness – not necessarily in that order!
Meditation of the day:
Breathe in and say:
“Learn from Christ”
Breathe out and say:
“His yoke is easy”
I have a question accorting to John 14;21 , can you explain it tome
Sure sister!
Look closely at what He says in this passage, “my teaching” and “my commands” – this isn’t Jesus saying follow the Old Testament law – this is Jesus saying, “Love God and Love one another” which were His teachings.
