Jesus rocks the boat (Part 5)
“One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and set out. As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger. The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” – Luke 8:22-24
How did Jesus sleep and why could He sleep so well?
There is a Peace with the Grace-Full that no one will ever find with the legalist! For the Grace-Full each moment is from God no matter what happens – not so the legalist and this is a big part of my mission, ministry, writing and teaching for a simple reason – ONLY JESUS CREATES GRACE!
How does He do it?
By having done Everything that needed to be done in His Life, Ministry, Death on the cross and perhaps most importantly in His Resurrection – which Believers are part of!
Why?
Because your debts – past, present and future have been paid, you are no longer under the law, you can rest now! He came to heal the sick (without a relationship with God our Creator we are sick), set the captive Free (under the law we were captive to sin) and make Reconciled Forever by His work you and me to GOD!
Do Christians always realize that?
Absolutely NOT! This is why the babe in Christ is still drinking formula and isn’t able to eat the steak and potatoes of the Grace-Full who are less judgmental, more at Peace and NOT under the law as much as the new Christians!
The problem is in most churches today – this is reversed and therefore most churches are not about Love, Peace and Forgiveness but instead they are about power, growth and acting more sanctimonious, pious and holy instead of BEING Holy as He is Holy – through Grace!
Why could Jesus sleep and what is the message of The Good News of the Gospel?
Simply this – Because of Christ no more sacrifice is needed, required or wanted by God – ALL He wants is to Love you and that has NOTHING to do with the law which was simply the tool used to bring you the condemnation needed for you to find Him!
Knowing this IS THE PEACE THAT PASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING!

Follow Jesus or follow dogma – which do you choose?
God bless you Bob!
This post got me thinking about how Jesus gets us out of our comfort zone.
The disciples who were fishermen must’ve felt at home on the sea; even as the storm approached . . . Perhaps even finding the discomfort their fellow disciples began to express amusing.
Once the storm had hit them with full fury, they agreed with others . . .they feared for their lives.
They forgot two things.
Firstly Jesus had said, “let us go to the other side.” What Jesus says will happen does always come to pass. We can face the storms of weakness, uncertainty and trials with confidence; not overcome by the circumstances, but knowing HE IS FAITHFUL. He will never leave us or forsake us and will complete the work he has begun in our lives.
Secondly, they forgot [as you mention above] that their success didn’t depend on their great seamanship or ability to navigate through storms. The purposes of God are far beyond what we are capable of managing and performing in our own strength. We need HIS power, HIS righteousness, and confidence in HIS faithfulness. If we take our eyes off Christ and forget the grace of God working in our lives, we’ll all get that sinking feeling. . . just like the disciples.
God will always take us on adventures where we are challenged to love more, forgive more freely and believe for far greater things than we ever thought possible. God is able to do far more than we can ever believe or hope for. Sometimes it will be scary, but remember the one who is with you always . . . and can bring peace in the storm.
Blessings, GJ
AMEN Gary!
Thank you for this it really blessed me!
YES – when Jesus says something will happen – IT WILL HAPPEN! He said, “Love your neighbor as yourself and thus fulfill ALL the law and the prophets!”
I really enjoyed the way talked about their success being based on Jesus NOT themselves!
Thank you for sharing brother!
