When was the first poor person Christmas?

When were regular people invited to see God?

Why were poor people invited?

Please read Luke 2:8-10

Vs. 8 “And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.”

Until the time of Jesus, God was a very exclusive club. In fact if you were one of the working class peasants like me you would have been lucky to make it in on His good side.

It’s not every night that shepherds have an angel of the Lord appear to them. But then Jesus was anything but business as usual- to them, to you, to me or to mankind.

Suddenly through Jesus a relationship with God Almighty could be had freely available without our “doing” and instead we just needed to “BElieve.” WOW- now that is “good news!!” WOW- now that does cause “Great Joy!!”

So why were poor normal folks invited- simply put before this little boy would finish His mission here on earth- EVERY person on earth would be able to walk, talk, share and live life in a moment by moment awareness of His Great Love for them!

He doesnt care who you are, where you come from or what your political party is- He LOVES you!! He doesn’t care about your skin color, your religious affiliation or your sexuality- He LOVES you!! If that is not great news- I don’t know what is!!

Find a time for about 10 minutes to just sit and breathe in and out and with each breath say this to yourself:

Breathe in and say:

Jesus Loves me!”

Breathe out and say:

Just as I am!”

Practice this way until you can rest in the fact that Jesus didn’t come for super saints or spiritual giants- He came for us normal, common, plain old poor folks and He Loves us ALL the same!

Don’t Worry- Be Grace-Full!!

LOVE changes Everything!
