What is “the truth?”
What does “the truth” do for you?
Could “the Truth” be a who and not a what?
How do you know something is untrue?
John 14:6 “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth”
“And the truth shall set you FREE!”
If what you believe and if what you follow isn’t making you Free- it isn’t truth!
Most people don’t really look at the verse just before “And the truth shall set you FREE!” But they really need to in order to see how Grace was The Good News of the gospel.
In Vs. 31 of John 8 Jesus said to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
What does that mean to you and me?
I could simply put it this way, if what I believe to be true is not creating more freedom- it’s a lie.
For years growing up I never got this and it wasn’t taught this way. Freedom meant, free to pay my tithe, come to a cold building, feel guilty and if I am lucky not think a thought or do some action that would make me feel even worse and need to walk down the aisle.
Then when Grace was taught to me I went through a period of anger over just hearing about it. But the Truth of Grace like a seed gently planted by the hand of God and nurtured through the rains of adversity and fertilized through the gentle prodding of a Love From Above that is beyond human comprehension- Grew!
What if the Truth IS Jesus and not some ideas we think about the scripture? Didn’t He come to set the captive Free?
Let’s take a minute to meditate. Just stop and relax and listen. Start by taking several deep breaths and with every exhale see God take your stress. Now close your eyes and begin to breath normally and just feel your breath while you relax your face and jaw. With each breath feel more relaxed and:
Breathe in and say:
“Abba show me”
Breathe out and say:
He is faithful and He is listening! Now listen and watch- today will be special for you!
