What is the cross you believe in worth?
“For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it. What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?” – Mark 8:35-37
When you look at this passage remember that Jesus came to and was standing in the middle of the most legalistically bound, religious people who existed! They knew the law, the ten commandments were tattooed on the inside of their eyelids and the punishments were swift and sure!
Public appearance and social standing was Everything which is the main reason why Mary was so afraid when she heard she was going to have Jesus.
Those who were going to blessed with eternal rest and peace were those that obeyed a code and followed a yoke and gave money and sat in the right pew and “did” ALL the right things! These were the ones that saved their own life, as anyone could see how righteous they were – sound familiar?
It should – this was the same idea of the Puritans, the main religious order that first hit the shores of what is now the USA. The Puritans idea was “I must work to make myself more pure and acceptable to God” and this common theme still runs through the veins of almost every single church I have ever been a part of!
The Gospel message is clear – CHRIST ALONE is the key to salvation – Not just the afterlife but the inner life Here and Now the Being that you are Here and Now that God Himself made you to Be!
You nor I are worthy and that is what makes the cross All the more Amazing!
What is the cross you believe in worth? Did Jesus finish the job? What value did the cross bring to your life and to your existence Here and Now?
These are not just good questions for a Bible study – these are key questions to the kind of life you will have Here and Now and the way you will forever see God, Jesus and the cross! These questions and these words of Jesus are pleading with you to focus on His Gift Being All you need!
If you want to see how the Bible supports this and begin to unravel the mystery of a non-works based relationship – I beg you to go to the link below and answer 7 simple questions based on scripture:

Bob, I need to understand God before I can love him. Adam and Eve were spiritual children exposed to temptation by the most evil being that ever existed. Why didn’t their heavenly Father warn them of his behaviour? Why was their punishment so severe? Does this show love? We wouldn’t treat our own children this way. Rod
Rod – all I can say is its not about understanding – its about accepting in Faith!
God doesn’t call us to understand just to accept By Grace Through Faith –
I wish you well on your journey and know that I am here.
