The path to a fully developed Peace muscle is in the realization and heart understanding of this simple devotional!
This is rarely a one time educational experience so remember while you are reconciled to God Almighty and while you are no longer under the law – growth in His Presence in you will continue and that is why I ask:
Is your Peace muscle growing?
How does persistence play into spirituality?
Where does faith grow?
“For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’ ” – Luke 18:4-5
In this passage Jesus was talking to His disciples about persistence in prayer.
In spiritual terms from what I have learned persistence is the constant acceptance that His will is being done each moment (faith) even while I continue to seek something different.
If there is any one lesson that I have had RE-taught to me time and again its:
“His timing is perfect, mine is not!”
In my own journey I have hit a wall at times and when I step back from that wall it is invariable me being ahead of Him or looking backward at something instead of Being Here Now where He is!
Several key points to persistent spirituality:
1) He will change what needs to be changed and the more we accept what is the more we grow.
2) Sometimes it’s about a want not a need and that’s why the answer is not wait but “grow.” Grow until you see with spiritual eyes a bit better.
3) The phrase “God helps those who help themselves” is NOT in the Bible but the phrase “wait upon the Lord” is and “Peace that passes All understanding” is.
4) If you are in a hurry you it’s a safe bet He isn’t! Don’t run in front of God and don’t drags the past with you so it holds you back- just Be Here Now!!
Take some time to breathe today:
Breathe in and say:
“Now is perfect”
Breathe out and say:
“Wait on Him”
Practice like this until you can rest here and now!
