Religion says you must perform; Grace invites you to an ever growing Rest.
Our Rest starts when we realize that a “new creation” was born at the moment when we were “born again.” Our Rest (Faith) in His provision for our Holiness or wHOLeY-ness is our trust in God that Jesus “Finished” the job and He now lives in us.
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” … Hebrews 11:6
When I was religious to “earnestly seek him” meant to do more law and do more activities at church and basically try to live a more law abiding life. Funny thing though … read the rest of Hebrews 11 (Faiths Hall of Fame) and you see what it really means. In fact read on into Hebrews 12 and you get a more complete picture of GraceFull Rest.
In short GraceFull Rest means Trusting God for Everything.
Can a person go from not trusting God at all to Trusting God for Everything? Anything is possible and “All things are possible” with God. I can only say for me however that Faith and Rest has been a slow growth experience.
The key to growing in Incredible Rest is to grow in Grace which means growing in an understanding of His Boundless, Unconditional and Eternal Love. To grow in this two understandings must be accepted and focused on:
1) “Christ is the end of the law for all who believe”… Romans 10:4
2) All Righteousness comes through Faith … Romans 1:17
