Why the “I” must die!
If you were offered an opportunity to live forever in a place with people full of pride and ego would you do it?
If I told you that in place where you would live forever you would be labeled and watched and every bad thing you ever did would be remembered would you want to go?
If this place was based on self effort and being a puppet on a string would you want the express line to get there?
“For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” – Galatians 2:19-21
The law serves a very distinct purpose and THANK GOD for it!! The law kills “I” cause “I” cant and never could do anything that was better than filthy rags and God knows that and always has- perhaps this is why the lamb was slain before the foundation of the world.
The “I” is the prideful part, the arrogant part that Paul knew all too well. The “I” also called the ego is the very thing that will keep you from loving and caring because the “I” is focused on doing and performance. Oh sure the person with the “I” might do loving acts and donate money to some cause but that person of “I” is not loving like Jesus- they cant the “I” gets in the way.
“The life I now live in the body, I live by Faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. I do not set aside the Grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”
Not sure if Paul used exclamation points or if they were added later but they sure are appropriate.
Righteousness from Him comes from Him and by Him and through Him and without that we are still trying to be holy on our own which takes away from the number 1 and only mission- “LOVE ONE ANOTHER!!”
Next time you happen to see a person in need ask them what they really need is it a long list of “do this and dont do that” or is it LOVE.
YES that includes the person in the mirror and if you are not aware of it let me tell you the only truth that will change your life forever:
“GOD LOVES YOU!!!!!”
“Pride goes before a fall” according to proverbs and several broken egos. God isnt trying to embarrass you or hurt you He just wants you to know He is the only One that can lift you up and heal you. Yes there is a fall but if the “I” dies trust me the results make the fall the best thing that ever happened to you.
Are you willing to ask God to create a new heart in you?
Dont Worry- Be Grace-Full!!
