What does truth do in you?
Can you tell truth by what it does in a person?
Is it possible that what some present as truth is actually bondage in disguise?
How can you tell what is true in a world full of people screaming that they have the truth?
“To the Jews who had believed Him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” – John 8:31-32
Who was Jesus talking to here?
Could it be that the “Jews who had believed Him” were still Jews and as such very legalistic?
Why was the teaching of Jesus different from the “teachers of the law” and why did that scare them enough to make them plot to kill Him?
What traits or qualities can we see in His truth?
Christ came to seek and to save that which was lost. He was about healing the sick like you and me and Loving All. Jesus was the World’s Greatest Lover of All Time in that He loved even those who hated Him- that’s my Hero!!
I find that truth from Him has some common qualities:
1) It creates more Love! As His truth resides in us we begin to see all beings as made in His image and as such we see God even in those who hate us.
2) It creates more freedom! “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” the more of His truth you know the more freedom is in you.
3) It creates an eternal attitude of gratitude! I don’t Love God because I sat on a hard wood pew and endured butt callouses- I Love God because on a moment by moment basis I see what He has and is creating in me.
If you truth is not creating more Love, more freedom and more gratitude within you then at some point you need to ask yourself what is it worth don’t you?
