How can you Love yourself?
How can you build Love for yourself?
How can you Love others IF you don’t love yourself?
“And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” – Matthew 22:39
Do you ever find it difficult to Love yourself?
How can we really Love our neighbors if we can’t Love ourselves?
For me this is a primary problem with the law. The law was created to draw us to Jesus based on guilt and shame. The law is 100% holy and just but we are not – Only He is and once He is in you- you are under Grace.
If you are willing to fully examine the scriptural side of this idea you can click on these words “Let the Journey Begin” – it’s in several different languages and I am hoping to get it into more languages soon.
But this doesn’t stop the “roaming lion” or serpent from using that law to create guilt, shame and condemnation in us does it?
Today I would like to share a meditation that is creating change and growth in my life. It’s like a Loving Kindness meditation but with scripture as that is what my practice is based on.
Please find a time and a place where you probably won’t be disturbed. Find a stable seat preferably in a solid chair against a wall so you feel supported. Start by lifting your shoulders to your ears and letting them drop to relax the body a little. Take a few deep breaths and as you do with every exhale check to see if you can really relax any stress points you might have. Just turn your stress over to Him. Now sitting up straight follow as best you can this script but if the words aren’t perfect its ok only Jesus is perfect in us and He will direct your words. See if you can get a sense of God himself saying these words to you and really let them come inside and dwell in you:
Just breathe and say:
“May I feel safe- He is my rock and salvation”
Breathe and say:
“May I know happiness- He made this moment, rejoice in it”
Breathe and say:
“May I know physical peace- He shall supply ALL my needs”
Breathe and say:
“May I know ease in my life- His yoke is easy and His burden is light”
Practice this for several days and see if you begin to realize what a valuable creation you really are!! GOD LOVES YOU!!
Don’t Worry- Be Grace-Full!!
Thank you for this blog. Sometimes it is really hard to love self and that must come from not thinking we are good enough in some way. When a person really wants to be pleasing to God and is always working to accomplish it, it is a set up for personal failure.
It is a difficult thing to change as the mind doesn’t readily let go of something that has been held on to for so long. Habit seems to have a mind of it’s own at times, regardless of truth or goodness. I believe meditation can be a good way to to dwell on God’s word and I am using some you have suggested. It is a help in fully absorbing God’s love and peace.
In the past few months before sleeping at night I quite often think deeply on each verse of the 23rd psalm.
Thank you again, blessings, M
M,
Praise God! That is great to know that meditating on God’s word is connecting you to Him in new ways. I first started meditating at a particularly stressful time in my life and so the results were rather immediate. Once I started putting scripture to it there seemed to be this flow of calm as I began to grow in the reality of Him Being Here Now! I began to sense each and every moment as a moment that He created just for me and as such I could relax in that as I knew He was in charge. Am I going to die? Yes but not until the exact moment that He has already set aside for me to die. Will I face some new threat? Yes, but only the ones He allowed in so agian He is in control.
Loving myself is an understanding that He loved me first and He knows best. It is a growth but WOW what a journey! The best part is the Guide to this journey owns the road-LOL:-) He knows it and its all going to play exactly as He wills.
Thank you for the blessing of you and for being here!
Bob
