In our discomfort we are So Very Blessed! It is the comfortable that never hear God. It is the complacently exceedingly contented doing based person that cannot only, not hear God but misses seeing Him in every flower and sunrise they see. This is as true today as it was in ancient times with the Biblical heroes.

Then he said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.” At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God. The LORD said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering.” – Exodus 3:6-7

At this time in history Moses had every right to be afraid. This was at a time when all the people who followed God had been brought up with stories of His terrible anger and power and they had heard of the things He had done to keep earth in check and balance. It was a time before Grace was instituted to man. Righteousness was still by Faith as it always was – see Hebrews 11 and 12 but God was seen as a Being to be feared in the scariest sense of the word.

One interesting thing to me in this passage is that hearing God from what I have seen and experienced happens best in times of emotional upheaval and darkest challenges UNTIL you hear His voice of Love!

The reason God was calling Moses out at this time was because of God’s great compassion for His children. Moses’s life, existence and Everything about it was about to change for the Love of God to be seen – this is the point where Grace tries to get God’s children.

The Exodus story is the perfect example of what Grace looks like. We were slaves to a heavy burden – the law – which was a task master that would never be satisfied and never set us free. Then at just the right moment God sent One Who changed everything! Even though we had to go through and are going through a time of wandering in the desert of life, His Love leads us on!

The simplest reason why or explanation of the Blessing of discomfort like depression, bipolar, past pain and all sorts of physical and emotional handicaps is that in these states hearing God is Much easier. Those who are comfortable will have the greatest challenge ever truly hearing God. This is one if not the main reason why nations crumple, people get cancer and all sorts of calamities befall a person, country or group, God is constantly trying to get us to listen to His quiet, gentle voice of Love and Compassion for us and others!
