What is it that we “live by“? How does what we “live by” impact our lives, influence those around us and radically alter Everything that we are involved with while breathing and beyond?
Is living by Faith the same as living by law?
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” – Galatians 2:20
The reality of this passage is missed by the vast majority of Christians because Faith is not exercised where law makes right!
As a young boy and young man growing up in the church this verse meant “try harder” and “do MORE” – as I grow in Grace this passage meant something Very different. Let’s examine the voices of each:
Under law: “now that you no longer live but Christ lives in you, you should work harder to be legally good”
Under Grace: “now that you have Faith in Christ, you are no longer under the law, you can rest in His gift and when the voices of guilt, condemnation and shame come, you can remember that you are righteous Not because of your doing but because of His Being in you!”
I have found in my experience that only one of the voices above builds my love for God, Trust in Jesus, Peace Here and Now, Hope for the future, Love for my fellow man And is an easy burden and light yoke – can you guess which one does all that?
Here is a hint – The Key to Healing through LOVE is summed up in one word: Faith!
