The statistic absolutely shocked me when I read it! How could this be? Perhaps this is where much of the religious illness of America is created! The statistic read, “the average American church service only has less than 3 seconds of uninterrupted quiet time at most during a service!” The implications of not being allowed to sit quietly and just listen to God as opposed to being spoon fed God are at best spiritually cancerous!
“The Israelites did as they were told; some gathered much, some little. And when they measured it by the omer, the one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little. Everyone had gathered just as much as they needed.” – Exodus 16:17-18
God has Always been sufficient; satan has always wanted man to catch the illness that got him thrown out of Heaven which is to worship the god of more!
A closer walk with God was never in my grasp, it was only in my realization. What I mean by that is that all my years of painful effort and struggle Never brought me closer to God. The endless retreats, camps, seminars, programs and callouses on my butt and pains in my knees never got me closer to God – ONLY realizing Grace opened the doors to the store house of His Love, Mercy, Forgiveness, Peace, Joy and Hope!
“HIS Grace IS sufficient!”
Here is the kicker – because of Jesus you don’t have to go gather His Grace – JUST accept it!
His Grace IS all you need and yet the average church spends so little time listening TO God and allowing its members to do that because it’s about religion and more instead of relationship and Love!
Until you see that He IS ALL you need, He has done it ALL, His gift is complete, IT IS FINISHED – until you get this you will Not see His sufficiency!
God Never does Anything halfway! He IS GOD! GOD IS LOVE! Grasp the idea that God IS Love and that ALL you need was finished on the cross and Rest, Peace, Joy and Hope will Be in you!
If you have realized that you are a sinner and need Jesus and accepted Him as meeting the need for your sins then I encourage you to find a quiet time and place and just listen to His sufficiency. Here is how I do that: I meditate – for a few minutes I practice meditating on scripture. Sometimes I do that for a few minutes and then I just breathe in and out for a few minutes to be still and listen. Care to try it?
Breathe in and say:
“Be still and know”
Breathe out and say:
“That I am God”
After a few minutes of this or even without it – just BE STILL, breathe and listen! Try this for a few weeks early every morning and see if you suddenly begin to see that meeting Jesus means you have gathered enough!
