Love is not fallen into or forced in a smile on a Sunday morning – Love is a Growth into the knowledge that Christ Alone made you complete! Knowing this and Growing in this through continually falling – develops Love, Trust, Compassion, Kindness, Faith , Humility and Gentleness!
Can you force Love?
Can you mandate compassion?
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” – Colossians 3:12
God’s formula for Love is this- the more you realize how much He Loves you, the more you understand what His great Love has done for you “chosen people, holy and dearly Loved” – the more compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience you will become.
The Love of Christ wasn’t something He did out of force or coercion – it came from inside and it is desperately needed in the world today!
Here is the problem – if you are still under the law – this kind of growth cant happen. The law is NOT a gentle process of growth or a clothing of traits that grow from a Love that is boundless. The law is a set of hard and fast lines that you cannot and must not cross!
Please don’t misunderstand – the law is good and is a very useful tool – for those under the law. But once in Christ the law will become an anchor of perpetual guilt and shame that makes you judgmental, proud, arrogant and distant from compassion and Love.
Just look at this passage: “Chosen people”- God chose you – He Loves you – He died for you! “Holy” – because of Christ you have been made Holy in the sight of God! Reconciled, Sanctified and Justified before God Almighty – and it wasn’t from anything you did!
To clothe yourself is a gentle process that happens the more you understand the process that happened to you, the fact that neither you nor any of us were worthy to have that process happen and see others in the same light of Love as Christ did!
Take a few moments in a quiet place and time and just practice like this while closing your eyes:
Breathe in and say:
“God let me see”
Breathe out and say:
“Your Love for me”
Practice like this and be open to what He is allowing to happen in your daily life.
