Grace Works Day 5 – Are you in?
“What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith.” – Philippians 3:8-9
Paul, being raised and starting his life as Saul the ultimate legalist, had a very good grasp on True Holiness – and it wasn’t from his effort! In fact he considered everything he had done and was doing as garbage!
Paul was very upfront in his writing and in his message that Jesus not only rocked the boat of the legalistic religious people of that day – but He tipped the boat over for all times!
But here is the problem with a tipped over boat – some people hang on to it or even worse swim back to it after being rescued! I know it sounds crazy but let’s face it a checklist is comfortable, requires no Faith and clearly shows everyone the path – right?
Yes in every ones world Except God’s!
“Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.” – Colossians 2:16-17
God Almighty wants a relationship based on Love so bad He allowed His only Son to die to provide it and He doesn’t want anyone to miss out or go backward:
“For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.” – Galatians 3:10
Jesus speaking in Luke 9:62
“Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”
In short that simple means that once you follow Christ and get out of that comfort zone of the laundry list god and see The God of Love – you can never go back to the law and be at Peace with Him.
