Grace-mask 2 – Comparing!
Is the law comfortable? Does it have points where it is somewhat pleasant?
“In the desert the whole community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The Israelites said to them, “If only we had died by the LORD’s hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death.” – Exodus 16:2-3
Please don’t ever misunderstand what I am teaching – THE LAW IS GOOD! It does its job very well and it has a Very necessary job – it brings you condemnation, guilt and shame So that you will turn to Jesus!
The job all along was not to tell you how to live but to show you where to run – to Abba!
That being said many and in fact most, like the church in Galatia will drift or slide back to the law for a comfort zone, a means of showing who is and who isn’t following God or as a way of trying to evoke human control on an organization like a local church.
In this passage we have a group of people who have been beaten, raped, spat upon and in every possible sense abused as slaves and because they don’t have any A1 and something to go under it – they start to miss the whip!
Let’s get one thing straight! I am not only below the poverty line at this present moment, I am as close to being homeless as I have ever been and yet also as happy as I have ever been – Why?
Because in these moments I see God’s Amazing hand work like I never could if I would have stayed with a mentality that God blesses the good and punishes the bad! In these moments I see what a real Blessing from God is and guess what it almost never comes with $$$$$ signs!
The law forces you to compare – Grace creates a path for you to up there! A path that allows you to get an up there perspective on things!
As I sit here typing this I am also preparing a school in the Philippines to work with slaves and at risk slaves. It is a vocational school, offering Free vocational training and marketing of products they make in order to keep them from selling their daughters into slavery and give them a path out if they are already there.
Why do I say this? Because as long as I compare where I am and what I have and what I do with where God already has my immortal soul, I am not living by Faith, learning to Trust or Being His Love light!
The path to being content in whatever state you find yourself starts with Not being under the law!
