Meditations for Christian Happiness!
Is your heart happy?
How does one make the heart happy?
Please read Proverbs 15:13
Vs. 13 “A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit.”
It’s so easy for the heart to lose happiness! Especially if we are on the treadmill of legalism that many remain on with their teeth clinched into a law in a desperate attempt to hold out and hang on until Heaven.
The Biblical problem with this is simple – it isn’t God’s plan or desire for your life! He wants and craves and desires to share His Love with you! If that doesn’t make you Happy – you haven’t grasped His Love but instead a cheap imitation and there is a really good chance that there is a voice inside telling you that you are not worthy!
Here is how I start my day before anyone gets up but whatever time of the day you practice this try to be consistent with this:
Find a time and a place where you probably won’t be disturbed and start by finding a comfortable seat or mat to be on but not so comfortable that you fall asleep. I sit in a chair with a straight back and the chair is against an inside wall of my house. I sit on the front of the chair with an erect back but not stiff. I have a timer that I started with 5 minutes and worked my way to today which is 30 or so minutes. After I close my eyes I take a couple of deep breathes and a big shoulder shrug and release just to be totally relaxed and I silently meditate with these words:
Breathe in and say:
“You Are Love”
Breathe out and say:
“You Love Me!”
Breathe in and say:
“You are my Fortress”
Breathe out and say:
“I am safe”
Breathe in and say:
“You are my Peace”
Breathe out and say:
“And I am at Peace”
Breathe in and say:
“You are my Provider”
Breathe out and say:
“All my needs are met”
Breathe in and say:
“Your yoke is Easy”
Breathe out and say:
“I have Ease in my life”
In this one meditation you have identified and reinforced that you are Loved by God, Protected by God, made at Peace by God, Provided for by God and your life has more ease because of God!
Practice this for several weeks and keep a journal and see if this has an impact on your walk with Christ. In the next lesson on this series on God wants you Happy I will share how to make this meditation an expression of Love for others as well.
