As we lifted off from Baghdad International Airport on the first civilian flight to make it out in days I heard such joyous clapping and tears of joy in the pitch black aircraft that I was once again reminded of the tragedy that fills a place where the god of power is worshiped over The God of Love!
“As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the LORD. They said to Moses, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt? Didn’t we say to you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians’? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!” – Exodus 14:10-12
I have never had a moment in my life where God was not there! Many times I failed to see Him but that was my spiritual eyesight Not His non-presence!
During those times of spiritual blindness on my part, many times I would complain, lash out and even curse at God – and He would just hold me in His arms, rock me and whisper, “I Love you my child.”
There was a moment when I finally knew that He Loved me beyond my wildest imagination and created each and every second, person, place and thing to be Exactly the way it is just so He could Freely Give me exactly what is best for me; that moment was a healing for me and one reason why I write – But God Never had a problem with all my spiritual blindness!
One reason why satan wants us to doubt and question God is that satan likes to later use that against us and accuse us of not being Faithful when it isn’t the questioning and the whining that is unfaithful at all. It’s the checklist, legalistic believer that thinks works equate to a relationship that is unfaithful!
God doesn’t mind questions! God doesn’t mind prodigals and He still Loves them and waits for them to come Home to His Love – But what He will spew out of His mouth and send away from Him are the ones that rely on themselves, their own works and their own righteousness!
The reason why the children of Israel were in the desert was to prepare them – until they were ready to see the thorns on the rose bushes as blessings just like the roses – they weren’t ready!
Are you ready for the Promised Land?
