Does God have a social welfare program?

What about the needy?

What is God’s plan to care for the hungry?

Please read Acts 4:33-35

Vs. 33 “With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.”

God’s Grace was so powerful that it met the physical needs of those who were there but how?

By helping others grow in Love!

There may come a day when God leads you to sell whatever you have and help a Brother or Sister be able to eat- and that will be blessed day indeed but let’s look at some interesting points here:

1)    God’s Grace leads you to care about what matters! These are the same apostles who had next to nothing and died near beggars. I am not sure when God’s work got to be about size and amount but let me share something I have been learning lately- In God’s kingdom His size is the only size that matters.

2)   God’s Grace leads us to do things that others think is stupid! If you are not a fool yet please follow Christ and become one! Die for your enemy, sell what you have and give the money to someone who needs it, Love and be beaten and die for it, lose family and friends for the beliefs you have- if any of this sounds like a worldly wise philosophy please let me know.

3)   God’s Grace will meet your needs so rest in that! Faith does not come in times of plenty, bounty and comfort but rather in times of need, pain and sorrow. In this picture we see God’s amazing hand of beauty working two ways- those who had exercised the Love muscle- those with needs exercised the faith muscle.

Here is a simple contemplative prayer I hope you will follow for the next week. Write the phrase below down some place where you will see it often and ask God to bring it to mind as He sees fit. Throughout the days and weeks ahead whenever you have a moment- make it a Grace-Full one by focusing on this statement:

God Please Teach Me!!

After you do this just be still and silent for a moment- What did God tell you?

Don’t worry- Be Grace-Full!!
