Only the dead have seen the end of war! Nowhere is this truer than in the spiritual world!

What difference does it make to follow Peace over performance?

Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.” – John 14:1

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” – John 14:27

To say that the disciples were performance driven in their religious life and indeed every other element of life is a little like saying air is necessary for life! In the Jewish tradition law was the basis for every element of life and indeed it was life itself for most Jews.

The same is true today in the Christian religion only on a different level. For most when work is done on Sunday there is a sense of peace as the work has been done. I sang in the choir, paid my 10 or if I am really to have peace maybe 12% and I even got out a few utterances of “Amen” – so I must be doing alright! This is religious peace NOT the Peace of Christ!

His Peace is Not based on your performance as the world’s peace above is – His Peace is based on your understanding that He did it ALL! The war is Over and He won the victory so you can Rest and have Peace beyond your performance, current situation or feelings!

This is why I say that following Christ IS The Perfect Rest – He knows me better than I know myself, Loves me more than I could even imagine and knows, created and planned every nanosecond in my life in order for me to Grow in Love for Him and others!

If I live in the awareness of the above statement – Peace that passes ALL understanding is in every second I breathe! Keep in mind this IS a growing awareness and the number 1 mission of the devil is to stop you from growing in this direction – that is why I encourage you to follow this series and read part 2 of “Getting it – Peace!” where I will dive into some practical ways to grow this mind set!
