Growing up religious one quickly learns that many questions are Not good questions. As a result your average child growing up in that type of environment will suffer from a God image that is substantially less than what He is! Religious people are big on saying, “you are free from the power of sin” but they really don’t get what that means – exactly. What about you?
Got Freedom yet?
Which freedom do you pick?
“Therefore this is what the LORD says: You have not obeyed me; you have not proclaimed freedom to your own people. So I now proclaim ‘freedom’ for you, declares the LORD—‘freedom’ to fall by the sword, plague and famine. I will make you abhorrent to all the kingdoms of the earth.” – Jeremiah 34:17
We were all slaves until Christ- the problem is many still are! Not because they struggle with alcohol, tobacco or curse words- but because they struggle with accepting that they are Free to do any of those things as none of them is against the law!
What is the law?
“Love God, Love others and thus fulfill the law!”
Proclaim Freedom to all slaves is a very clear mission and one of which I have been all too very blessed to accept!
Most people are slaves today- slaves to the future, slaves to the past, slaves to religion or slaves to anything else that makes then ”feel” momentary pain relief. So what’s my point? Be Free, Here and Now in Him!
How? As we focus on Love for others and the needs of others instead of our own- His Freedom begins to take a bigger and bigger part of our life and that turns on the power of God!
Here is a meditation for you to consider. Find a time and a place where you probably won’t be disturbed and just take a moment to breathe, Be still and know that He is God! Star by taking a couple of deep breathes and a big deep shrug lifting your shoulders to your ears and letting them drop. Once you feel more relaxed and you have come back to normal breathing just:
Breathe in and say:
“Lord open me”
Breathe out and say:
“To Your Freedom”
Practice this until He opens your eyes to scripture and Truth and points you to the Freedom that Only He can provide for you.
