When Jesus invited a Jewish person to, “Follow me” He was inviting them to Not follow the law of Moses, the Pharisees, the Teachers of the law or anything else that made them safe and secure. The greatest challenge to Christianity today or ever for that matter is following something other than Jesus.

And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.” Luke 14:27

The cross was the ultimate symbol of suffering and shame but would through Christ become The Ultimate symbol of Love, Hope and Peace! The reason you are the way you are is because He made you this way with all that you are and all that you will be so that by carrying all that you are, you will be a symbol of His Love, Hope and Peace!

Carry your cross and follow Him has Nothing to do with follow the law – if anything it is an invitation to examine how you as you are can be an imitator of The World’s Greatest Lover – Jesus Christ!

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12

In the passage above Jesus again talked about His followers. Interestingly enough this was said right after the woman caught in adultery was hauled before Jesus and Jesus said the immortal words, “Let he who has no sin cast the first stone!” Which Jesus followed with a sadistic command or a Grace-Full reality when He told the hooker, “Go and sin no more!”

Again we can see that a “follower” of Jesus was Not someone endowed with super powers – but instead they were instilled with The Grace that Is sufficient and made so by “The Gift Beyond Compare!”

The burning question before any one today who “follows” Jesus isn’t “how good are you?’ The primary question before anyone who IS a follower a Jesus Christ is, do you believe that because of meeting Christ, believing in His name, you have ALL you need? Is Jesus enough for you?
