When does faith mean nothing?
When is a promise worthless?
What are you depending on?
Please read Romans 4:13-15
Vs. 13 “It was not through the law that Abraham and his offspring received the promise that he would be heir of the world, but through the righteousness that comes by faith. For if those who depend on the law are heirs, faith means nothing and the promise is worthless, because the law brings wrath. And where there is no law there is no transgression.”
There are two kinds of righteousness here one based on self and the other based on faith!
One devalues faith, making it nothing and it forces the promise of God to mean nothing. The other is not based on law but “by faith” it affirms the promise made by God.
One is based on your effort and doing while the other is based on Love and a Gift unlike any we could ever imagine. That Gift once you get it creates an eternally grateful heart because each and every moment that gift can grow as we walk in the knowledge and awareness of the magnitude of God’s Love!
Paul spent his entire life and ministry telling people that true righteousness comes through Faith and NOT law.
Jesus gave His life and radically changed the way we can relate to God in a relationship NOT based on law.
Yet for many the laws provide a nice security blanket, a safety net that gives a “feeling of righteousness” that is very dangerous.
The “Good News” of the gospel of Jesus Christ is this – the guilt, shame, condemnation and judgment that comes from the law can all end when you accept Him.
He didn’t come to condemn you- He came to provide a healing between you and God by fulfilling the righteous requirements of the law that you nor I nor anyone could ever hope to fulfill.
