Are you satan’s seamstress?
“He told them this parable: “No one tears a piece out of a new garment to patch an old one. Otherwise, they will have torn the new garment, and the patch from the new will not match the old.” – Luke 5:36
You are clothed in the righteousness of Christ as a New Creation from the moment you accept Christ!
Many believers know this in their head but few grasp it in their heart. For many Being a new creation means having some superpowers that will enable them to obey the law better. But this is exactly what Jesus is talking about here!
The law IS the “old one” and Grace IS the new one! Therefore what many Christians are doing is taking the tearing the righteousness of Christ that they are given as a New Creation and patching it with the law!
This is not just a bad idea it is anti-Christ! Why? Simply put this allows the believer to think they are contributing to their salvation! As if anyone ever could!
Being satans seamstress looks like this:
1) Feeling guilt and shame for laws you think you are under but you are not.
2) Causing others to see you in pain with guilt and shame based self esteem causes others to Run away from Jesus.
3) Sets you up for pride on a good day and remorse and self-rejection on a bad day.
4) Never allows you to truly know Abba in the relationship He really wants with you!
What’s the solution?
Ask God to reveal Himself to you in a way that would cause you to know His Love and Grace. Meditate on His word with the understanding that Jesus changes everything with regard to how you can relate to God. Daily spend 10 to 15 minutes in silence with your eyes closed in a quiet place and time and just:
Breathe in and say:
“Abba”
Breathe out and say:
“I belong to you”
