Is your spiritual journey the same as mine?

Are your spiritual scars the same as mine?

Do you need the same lessons as I do in life?

Once, on being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed, nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is in your midst.” – Luke 17:20-21

The spiritual journey is one of healing the self-first in order to bring Love to heal others. You might ask what you need to be healed from to which my reply would be you need to be healed from yourself just like I need to be healed from myself.

This is an internal journey to the kingdom of God that is within you but that journey is unique for each of us as we are all unique individuals with our own unique spiritual wounds and scars.

The spiritual wounds and scars that I carry are the ones that I carry but they are not yours. This is why one on the principals of spiritual growth is non-judging.

Keep in mind I didn’t say religious journey- although religion can cause some of the scars I speak of the journey is a spiritual one.

This is not a journey for the faint of heart- for that the religious journeys exist. A spiritual journey is one of eventual no fear but instead faith. A willingness to see lessons, ask questions and be ok with not having to have the answer but accepting whatever comes.

To start the journey or continue it here is a simple meditative prayer to invite a light to shine on your path. Find a time and a place where you probably won’t be disturbed and take several deep breaths to relax the body. With each exhale feel your stress go out and see if you can relax any tight spots in your body. As you get back to breathing normally:

Breathe in and say:

God guide me

Breathe out and say:

To your kingdom

Practice this meditation for a couple of weeks and just find a time each day when you can just be still, silent and listen- and let the healing begin!
