Grace Mountain!
What mountain are you on?
“You have not come to a mountain that can be touched and that is burning with fire; to darkness, gloom and storm; to a trumpet blast or to such a voice speaking words that those who heard it begged that no further word be spoken to them, because they could not bear what was commanded: “If even an animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned to death.” The sight was so terrifying that Moses said, “I am trembling with fear.” But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the Judge of all, to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.” – Hebrews 12:18-24
Two mountains- which one would you prefer?
One is based on Law, “darkness, gloom and storm” and fear that was even too much for Moses!
The other is based on “thousands and thousands of angels in joyful assembly”, “the living God”, “the heavenly Jerusalem” – in short “to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant.”
Again this is just another beautiful portrait of law vs. Grace.
Am I saying that the law is bad?
ABSOLUTELY NOT!!
For without the law I never would have known my need for Christ!
I am saying that there is a relationship with Christ that is not based on our doing or effort or sexuality or political party. A way to be with “the living God” and stand NOT on the mountain of fear like I was raised with but on the mountain of Joy!!
Remember “perfect Love drives out fear” and there is no more perfect Love than the Love from Above!
So which is it for you?
Is it fear or Joy?
