Disciples on map reading

Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” – John 14:5-6

There is a huge majority of very well meaning Christians who see Christ as the first box to check in a long laundry list of boxes that they think must be checked. To them Jesus came to say, “buck up little one, do a better job on that law and make sure you pay your tithe and well If you do we will see” – the problem is that isn’t what Jesus said here or for that matter anywhere else in the Bible!

When Jesus said, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” – He was making a declarative statement that was Not for the ears of the religious leaders of that day for a very simple reason – in that day the law and legal observations were the way to righteousness! It wasn’t about Grace, Peace and Freedom – it was about rules, regulations, giving money to the temple and “doing” all the right things!

In this classic passage of words from Jesus He was announcing yet again that He was making All things new in those that would follow Him! There would be no more temple sacrifices, burnt offerings and payments to compensate what we did wrong!

Why? In a word – Jesus!

What happened on the cross and what happened through His life and testimony was, is and always will be the reuniting of All who believe to God Almighty who doesn’t have butter fingers, is a perfect catch and will Never let you be separated from His Love no matter how far you might stray!

Jesus ushered in a whole new way to look at God, Be with God and live in His Presence and Awareness – just Believe!

Jesus created in you a whole New Creation at the very second you realized Who He was and accepted Him – just Believe!

It’s no longer about your works there is nothing you can do to earn it – it Is finished – just Believe!

He Is the way!

Array on Disciple in a dunce cap – 5

  1. rfullerworks says:

Bob can you say something about tithing which even modern churches insist is still necessary or you are “:stealing from God “?

    • Bob Hildreth says:

Rod – I can give you my take on it – when Jesus was asked about it, He actually made fun of it. Again to me this is further proof that we are not under the law! I suggest this – churches all across America or all around the world – sell All the property they hold – use the money to help feed the poor, create job programs and heal the show the Love of God to ALL – then every week trust God for another place to meet.
