Causing the Temple pain!
“Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.” – 1 Corinthians 3:16-17
We have looked at seeing depression as the blessing it is intended to be, seeing the law for the purpose it was given and Grace as the new system of how to relate to God. In the last Bible study in depression we talked about meditation and how it helps us Be still and know that He is God.
This study will look at another important element of God’s healing for depression – the physical.
God designed the body to want to be healthy! In fact He designed it so much so that way that if the body doesn’t get what it needs physically the mental, emotional, social and spiritual will suffer. Why did He do such a thing?
Great question – I don’t know other than I don’t think He wants robots or vegetables just laying around. In short the body was made to be mobile! What does that look like?
Just like a spiritual path that is probably different for each and every one of us but this much I am fairly sure of – whatever we find to do to stay active and get the chemicals in the body flowing right – that activity or action will lead us to people that need the unconditional and non-judgmental Love from Above that you have if you are “in Christ!”
It could be finding someone to walk with or connecting with a running club but you need to find some activity that will get you going.
The other piece to this is to watch the intake. I like beer and I like wine but I have seen the effect of too much of these on me the next day – both are depressants and they can cause a bad reaction the next day if I am not careful.
What is it for you? Fried food, sweets or maybe ice cream – anything in excess can and will be bad for you.
Here is a thought – why not start a support group that will help each other monitor how things are going? The Bible says we will be known by our Love and what could be more loving than helping each other deal with the things in our life that cause pain? The key is practice non-judgmental and non-condemning Love in the process of helping each other grow!
Remember God is Not in the law or some moral code – He Is Love and He Is in every act of Love we share!
