Christmas Y … 3

Luke 1:48-49

“for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me—holy is his name.”

One of the most common themes of the Christmas story and indeed the whole Bible is the need for humbleness. We saw this in Christmas Y … 1 with regard to the humble origins of Jesus, but here I want to dig in and look at the humbleness of those that are His.

Being humble comes from an understanding of ones position. In the case of a spiritual dynamic its understanding the root of our spirit. As long as the root of your spirit is your effort you will always struggle; when you surrender to Christ as The Root of your Spirit, Everything changes. We were created this way for several reasons:

1) God Loves us and wants us at Peace and He knows that comes through Rest (Faith) in His “Finished” work not our continual effort.

2) God knew the only way we could have peace between each other is if our source of spirit came from Him and not our continual effort which produces pride and levels of rightness or egotistical arrogance.

3) God understands how we work and He knows that a happy life can only be found in Gratitude which originates in knowing Perfect Love that removes all fear. For more on the dynamics of this see the link below.

In short Christmas Y … 3 is because God Radically Loves us and He knows that arrogance based on human effort is the path to every bad moment in human history, but Perfect Love based on His Goodness, not ours, is the key to genuine humility which creates real Thankfulness.
