The majority still live in bondage because they fail to open an unlocked door. The door is Grace and the trouble most face in life is given by The God Who Is Love to get them to push on that door that in their mind is closed but in Heaven that door was opened because of the cross.
“knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away, that so we should no longer be in bondage to sin; for he that hath died is justified from sin.” … Romans 6:6-7
The trouble most have with christianity is that it has become just another religion when it was meant to be The Greatest Relationship we could ever know. The reason this happened is that most never see the “justified” state that they exist in – most never believe that Perfect Love really does exist and that they are “no longer under the law” (Romans 6:14) – Grace caused Christ to be “the end of the law for all who believe” (Romans 10:4).
